What is “gonzo death metal”? I dunno, but it sounds like super fucking radical and quirky versions of one man lo-fi death metal executed at the hands of someone obviously expertly trained in both gonzo and death metal who has figured out how to meld the two seamlessly.
Don’t let the “lo-fi” aspect turn you off if you’re a fan of metal music but appreciate and/or prefer crystal clear futuristic production, this shit is straight up bananas despite and, definitely at times – as a result of, the lo-fi aspect. There is something otherworldly going on here in that regard. Rarely do you find a one man metal project that cuts through the bullshit of both “lo-fi” and being “one man” to come out the other side with something that so beautifully and heinously just fucking slays.
Death’n'roll, death metal, grind, bits of thrash, a little black metal for good measure – all at the hands of a single man who has pushed his working environment to the limits and beyond to give you something truly worthy of horn throwing and pit moshing.
Torn Flesh for the win, once more.
